Government Seeking Window Blind Inovation

“25 percent of the energy used to heat and cool buildings goes right out the window,” Secretary of Energy Spencer Abraham said. “The innovative technologies receiving funding today will improve U.S. industrial competitiveness while reducing energy use, helping to make our nation more secure.” Existing window treatments and shades can be improved to help reduce energy costs.

The Energy Department selected 19 organizations out of 202 proposals to receive funding as part of two DOE programs: Inventions and Innovation (I&I), and the National Industrial Competitiveness through Energy, Environment and Economics (NICE3) initiative.

The contractor shall invoice at the actual installation cost of the , per location.The minimum installation charge shall apply only in cases where the installation cost of the blinds exceeds the minimum installation charge.

*Location is defined as one or more buildings within close proximity to one another requiring installation service. The minimum installation charge is not intended to apply to each building at a single location.
